The MP for Harrow West has expressed his “deepest sympathies” to the victims of the terrorist attack outside the Houses of Parliament yesterday.

The attack took place at around 2.40pm, on Wednesday March 23, with MPs being locked in for five hours while security services made sure it was safe.

Five people died after Khalid Massood mounted the pavement on Westminster Bridge yesterday and hit a number of pedestrians.

He then got out the car and stabbed police officer Keith Palmer.

Gareth Thomas has since paid his respects to those who were injured and got killed.

He said: “Yesterday’s attack, aimed directly at the heart of our democratic system, was a terrible and monstrous assault that aimed to divide our country.

“I want to express my deepest sympathy to the victims, and their family and friends, who were killed or injured during the attack, on a stretch of pavement I’ve frequently walked along in my time in Parliament.

“In particular, I want to pay my respects to PC Keith Palmer who gave his life protecting Parliament and all of us who work in it and to thank the police, security services and emergency services for their continued determination and courage in being willing to keep us safe and secure.”
