Campaigners were left “disappointed” after discovering high levels of pollution in the air around the borough.
The Stanmore Society held a meeting at Stanmore Library, in Stanmore Hill, Stanmore, on Thursday March 2.
They revealed they had conducted tests around Harrow and the results showed Stanmore Broadway and Whitchurch Lane had double the required limit of 40 micrograms/cubic metre of nitrogen dioxide in the air.
Green Party member Caroline Russell, who is also a cllr in Islington, spoke at the event and said that around 10,000 Londoners die prematurely each year from poor air quality.
She called for more groups to conduct their own test work, which she called “Citizen Science”, in order to prevent people being further exposed to high levels of pollution.
