A school was under the command of two students after a pair of sisters became headmistresses for the day.

After winning a competition, Siena and Sofia Shah, aged six and nine, ran Northwood College for Girls.

They began by meeting the senior management team to discuss how the school could be improved, and then lead the school assembly.

They met the director of finance to discuss how the school should spend its money and then informed each deputy head what makes a happy and successful pupil.

They assisted with GCSE sports and cookery lessons and had a special tour around the school, where they discovered areas they did not know existed.

And at lunch, they invited two friends to eat macaroni cheese and syrup sponge pudding with them in the headmistress’ office.

Siena said: “It was awesome and I loved every bit of it.” And sister Sofia said: “The School is in excellent running order.”

Jacqualyn Pain, the usual headmistress, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed working for the girls during the eventful day. If I ever went on holiday in term-time, I would know who to appoint.”
