Members of Northwick Park Rotary Club braved the cold winter weather to collect as much money as they could for five charities.

The Rotarians appealed to members of the public outside Waitrose in Northolt Road, South Harrow, to help them raise money for charities in need of extra help this Christmas.

The club is collecting money for St Luke's Hospice, the children's ward at Northwick Park Hospital, Crisis at Christmas, Hestia for homeless and the Welldon activity centre who provide a day centre for disadvantaged people.

Club President Eric Silver said: "Rotary has been collecting funds like this for many years now, but one aspect of the collections has not changed with modern times.

"A big thank you to the people of South Harrow, and those from wider afield visiting the store. Your donation will end up doing a much needed job in our communities."

The club thanked everyone for donating and the team at Waitrose for helping out.
