Students and staff were delighted to show off their new school facilities to special guests.
Head teacher Louise Browning welcomed Harrow Mayor Cllr Rekha Shah, councillors and religious leaders to Norbury School in Welldon Crescent.
Norbury is just one of more than 25 schools in Harrow’s School Expansion Programme, which has provided 6,000 new school places for children since 2013.
Ms Browning said: “We were honoured to have our New Wing at Norbury blessed by many different religious leaders, having had the land blessed two years ago.
“Parents, pupils, staff and dignitaries joined for early morning prayer, song & togetherness.”
A tour of the new classroom followed a special school assembly highlighting the school’s commitment to helping to stamp out female genital mutilation (FGM).
The school recently presented a safeguarding ambassadors message during a National FGM conference.
They presented the message to the Local Government House, in Westminster on how children are kept safe during school hours.
