TALENTED teens from ACS Hillingdon International School visited Juniper Hall for a fascinating biology trip last month.
Grade 12 International Baccalaureate Diploma biology and environmental science students aged 17 and 18 enjoyed a three-day biology trip to Juniper Hall in Surrey, to learn how to carry out ecological studies from September 21-23.
Juniper Hall, run by the Field Studies Council, is a bespoke National Trust leased location for environmental fieldwork in the chalk North Downs.
The students applied sampling techniques to different types of woodlands, culminating in a mini project run by the students independently.
The project involved students conducting a sampling technique of their choice before processing, analysing, and evaluating their collected data using statistical techniques.
Dr Neelu Sharma, ACS Hillingdon head of science and trip leader, said: “The trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their classroom learning to a practical setting.
“Students developed many skills over the three days, including data analysis, data evaluation and inferential statistics.”
