The farming community are pulling together to raise money for a friend who has been recently diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
Scott Brenson, 46, from Crossoaks Farm, has worked AT Bone & Sons for 27 years and has supplied machinery and agricultural products to farmers across the country.
Mr Brenson was diagnosed with cancer around 18 months ago and decided to set up a tractor run to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Becky Bone, 25, who works and lives at AT Bone & Son’s farm, said: “Scott wanted to give something back to Macmillan for the support they have given him. We are really hoping that he will be well enough to enjoy the day.
“I did a tractor run last year for Alzheimers Research UK and Scott thought it would be great to do one for Macmillan.”
Vintage and modern tractors will be driven in convoy from Crossoaks Farm, in Borehamwood, following a planned route, which organisers hope will go through Hatfield House, Potters Bar and then back to the farm.
With a £25 admission fee for tractors, BBQ, activities and additional donations, Mr Brenson aims to raise £3,000 for the charity.
The event will take place on October 16, Mr Brenson’s 47th birthday, at Crossoaks Farm, in Crossoaks Lane in Borehamwood. The tractor drivers will meet at 9am and should arrive back at the farm for 1pm for food and refreshments.
