AN EPILEPTIC Ealing runner showed her strength by running the London Marathon for Epilepsy Action with her sister yesterday.

Despite being told her doctors she shouldn’t run, Lizzie Search defied the odds and completed the 26.2 mile course in 4 hours 56 minutes.

The 36-year-old became one of the million runners to tackle the race, alongside her sister Jenny Search who finished in 4 hours 28 minutes.

Lizzie said: “I’m thrilled to have completed the London Marathon for Epilepsy Action.

“The course was tough at times, but the knowing I was doing it for such a fantastic cause really helped me focus on reaching the finish.

“The crowds cheering me on were fantastic too.”

Lizzie and Jenny have raised more than £3,400 to help support people living with epilepsy and their families all over the UK.

Holly Rawlings, of Epilepsy Action, said: “Congratulations to Lizzie and Jenny on such a fantastic achievement and we wish them a well-deserved rest today!

“The atmosphere on the day was electric and all of our runners have collectively helped us to raise more than £65,000 to support people with epilepsy.

“Their incredible efforts mean we can continue to be there when people need us most.”
