THE inquest into the death of murdered Hanwell schoolgirl Alice Gross has been transferred to a different coroner after a blunder in which sensitive documents from the case were left on a train.
Chinyere Inyama, who was in charge of the hearing at West London coroner’s court, requested the switch after being heavily criticised for taking documents out of his office.
He lost the 30-page police file last November, a month after Alice’s body was found in the River Brent.
Mr Inyama is now being investigated by the Ministry of Justice after the error.
The Office of the Chief Coroner said: “The Chief Coroner, Peter Thornton QC, has received a request from Chinyere Inyama to make an order transferring the inquest to another coroner area. The Chief Coroner has agreed to this.”
