EALING residents have the chance to nominate the finest young achievers in their area to be recognised in the Spirit of London Awards.

The awards showcase young people today who are making a difference in areas like business, social enterprise, sport, politics, media and the arts.

There are eleven different categories, including National Young Campaigner, Young Business Entrepreneur and Community Champion.

Nominations are now open for the awards, to be held on December 12 at the Troxy in East London.

Chelsey Trowsdale, of the Spirit of London Awards Foundation, said: “We are really excited to be hosting the Spirit of London Awards again this year.

“It’s important to show people what London’s youth is really like, rather than focusing on a negative minority often portrayed in the media.

“There are so many inspiring young people, yet the media does not show any of that – we want to recognise their achievements and encourage others to look up to them and get involved.

“Regardless of your heritage, you can make it if you want it enough.”

More than 140 young entrepreneurs, creative minds, athletes and other achievers have been recognised since 2009, with a further 33 to be added this year.
