THERE are still places left for next month’s Ealing Half Marathon, which was last week named in The Guardian’s top six half marathons.

Runners are encouraged to sign up soon for the race on Sunday September 27, with almost 6,000 of the 7,000 available places already gone.

The 13.1 mile single lap course was voted the UK’s best half marathon at this year's Running Awards in association with everydayhero, for the second year in a row.

It starts and finishes in Lammas Park and takes in parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens.

The Guardian described it as: “Not entirely flat, but what it lacks in personal best potential it more than makes up for in atmosphere, with more than 20,000 spectators turning out to cheer on the 4,000 runners.”

Volvic® Natural Mineral Water has been confirmed as the official sponsor of the fourth Ealing Half Marathon and the Ealing-based Danone Waters (UK & Ireland) Limited will provide 35,000 bottles of water for participants.

Event co-ordinator Sandra Courtney said: “We are pleased to welcome Volvic on board as a sponsor of the Ealing Half Marathon and we are very grateful for the support received from Danone Waters (UK & Ireland) since 2012.

“The runners will be provided with water at six water stations, ensuring they keep hydrated and motivated. I would also like to express a big thank you to the Anglican churches who have got fully behind the event again.

“The final places for the 2015 race are being snapped up quickly and anyone wishing to be on the start line should go to the website and sign up as soon as possible.”

As in previous years, the Anglican churches alongside the running route will be manning the water stations, with their congregations handing out the water bottles to the runners.

Water stations will be set up at St Peter’s, St Barnabas, St Stephen’s, St Mary’s and St John’s, Mattock Lane. There will also be a fuel station for runners at St Christopher's on Bordars Road, just after mile seven.

Charlotte Broos, Danone corporate social responsibility manager, said: "It is an honour for us to once again have the chance to support this fantastic community event.

“Health is incredibly important to us as a business and we are delighted to be helping the runners stay hydrated once again.

“We hope that the plentiful supplies of Volvic will help every runner unleash their unstoppable!"

The course records, both set in 2013, are held by Matthew Kiprotich Kimutai (1:04:33) and Gladys Ruto (1:15:28).

Entry costs are £34 for affiliated and £36 for unaffiliated runners. People can also sign up to run and raise money for the headline charity Alzheimer’s Society. Sign up at www.ealinghalfmarathon.com
