LEGACY Games Day, aimed at encouraging children to get active, was held last week at Perivale Park athletics track.

Primary schools in the area, including Montpellier, Southfield, Ryefield, John Perryn, Coston, Hobbayne and Featherstone were invited to bring their pupils for a day of fun and friendly competition.

The event was run by Everyone Active, which operates the track on behalf of Ealing Council, and activity provider Fit For Sport. It was free for all and 650 children took part in total.

After a mass warm-up the children divided into smaller groups to enjoy sports, activities and team building challenges. It included shot putt, long jump, golf and relays. All the children received a medal, presented by Perivale Ward councillor Charan Sharma, as well as a goody bag including a 2-4-1 golf voucher.

“Our aim was to get the children excited about taking part in new activities,” says James Bowden, Everyone Active contract manager for Ealing.

“Legacy Day gave the kids a chance to have a go and enjoy themselves, with the emphasis on having a good time rather than being competitive.”
