SHOPPERS raised £1,005 for Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre’s Buskathon, in aid of the Ealing Soup Kitchen, at the weekend.

An array of music acts, from string trios to chamber choir groups, all featuring Ealing primary school students, played for visitors, while Ealing Soup Kitchen volunteers answered questions about the charity. Wanda Carter, a volunteer, said: “The Buskathon was a great way for us to raise awareness of the work the Ealing Soup Kitchen does for the community.

“We serve hot food to the homeless every Saturday and Sunday afternoon at St. John’s Church, Mattock Lane, and could always use more volunteers.

“The shoppers at Ealing Broadway Centre surpassed our expectations. So many reached into their pockets and asked how they could help in the future. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.”

The shopping centre commits to help a local charity every month. Previous causes supported include Marie Curie Cancer Care, Mencap and The Log Cabin.
