THIS Easter weekend, families in Ealing can enjoy more than the usual sweet treats and family excursions.

Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre is offering the chance to pet some pygmy goats and visit the reopened Butterfly House.

The centre in Hanwell, known locally as the Bunny Park, is run by Ealing Council’s animal centre team.

They are working in partnership with Clocktower Productions to put on an Easter Eggs-travaganza with a special eggs-cursion as part of its spring celebrations, on Sunday and Monday.

Children can take part in an Easter egg trail, with a map to help them find the eggs.

Once the trail is completed, they will win a go on the lucky dip. Prizes include inter-active experiences, such as a tour of the Butterfly House and a chance to feed the new pygmy goats.

Centre visitors can also visit the porcupines, cranes, tortoises and rabbits, or enjoy the kids’ rides and an art and craft tent.

Zoo keepers will be on-hand to answer questions about the animals. Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for the environment, said: “We’re looking forward to raising funds to complete a new, inter-active monkey house, and our younger guests always love the meerkats. This is a perfect family Easter treat.”

There are limited spaces and prizes for the Easter egg trail, and pre-booking a treasure map will guarantee a space.

The large papier mache eggs on the trail have been made by young people who volunteer at the animal centre and the MENCAP Art Group, based at Brent Lodge Park.

The eggs were decorated by primary schools and children's groups, to reflect some of the animals housed at the centre.
