EALING Fairtrade Group members are joining their counterparts in four neighbouring boroughs to organise a West London Fairtrade Walk on Saturday, March 7.

The aim of the walk is to highlight the Fairtrade Mark and draw attention to places that sell or serve Fairtrade products, but at the same time following an interesting route taking in local places of interest.

Walks will take place in Harrow, Brent, Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond, culminating in a joint Celebration of 20 Years of Fairtrade in Chiswick.

In Ealing, the walk will start at St. Mellitus Church in Hanwell at noon, and proceed via West Ealing, Northfields and and South Ealing to Ealing Green.

There, it will pause to give walkers the opportunity to visit some of the shops and cafes in Ealing Broadway that offer Fairtrade food and drink.

It will continue via Ealing Common to Acton Town and finally to St. Michael and All Angels Church in Chiswick, where walkers from all five boroughs will come together.

Anyone not wanting to tackle the whole distance is invited to join part of the walk in their local area - and then continue to Chiswick by public transport (Turnham Green is the nearest tube station).

Those who find walking too slow are welcome to join Ealing Eagles runner Wei Hei Kipling, who is planning to cover 17 miles of the West London Fairtrade Walk as part of her training for the London Marathon, which she is running to raise funds for Traidcraft.

The Celebration of 20 years of Fairtrade is a joint event at the parish hall of St Michael and All Angels on the Bath Road near Turnham Green station.

There will be Fairtrade tea, coffee and stalls to greet the walkers and others. Entry is free and open to all from 4-6pm.
