STUDENTS from Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College are teaming up with Ealing Police on February 28 to combat domestic violence in a campaign called Silence Kills.

The initiative involves a half-day workshop in which all members of the community can have their say to ensure police are better able to respond to cases of domestic violence in Ealing.

It involves other partners, such as Southall Community Alliance, Ealing Community and Voluntary Service, and Women and Girls Network.

Those who have experienced domestic violence or its effects will be encouraged to express their views, and all attendees will be advised on how to identify and address types of abuse.

Supt Colin Wingrove said: “Our Community Ambassadors Programme is helping us to bring everyone together to discuss these issues and explore ways in which services for victims can adapt and improve.

“It improves our understanding of the cultural challenges we face, but also helps us to provide solutions and improve the confidence of victims to come forward and not suffer in silence.”

Patrycja Brzoza , a student at Ealing, Hammersmith, and West London, added: “We need to raise awareness that any incident of violence or abuse is everyone’s problem, as opposed to believing that it remains behind someone else’s closed door.”

The workshop takes place on Saturday, February 28 at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, Beaconsfield Road, Southall UB1 1DP. The event will run from noon-4:.30pm .
