CONFECTIONERY company Ferrero is moving to Greenford.

The firm, which produces Ferrero and Kinder chocolate, as well as Nutella spread and Tic Tac sweets, will move its UK headquarters to G1 in Greenford Square.

Ferrero employs more than 140 direct employees in the UK, with the majority to be based at the new HQ.

Before it leaves its current headquarters in Watford, Ferrero is planning a makeover of the Greenford building. Work is expected to start in the next couple of months.

The G1 building is part of a 23-acre plot, previously occupied by GlaxoSmithKline until 2011.

It was bought by Stokin Greenford Ltd (SGL), which plans to transform the site. As part of its regeneration plans, which have already been approved by Ealing planners, it intends to build new homes and create public open space as well as shops and leisure areas.

Glaxo House is a Grade II listed building and will be sensitively refurbished into homes.

Cllr Julian Bell, leader of the council, said: “Ealing is west London’s premier location, taking on and winning inward investment from historically more popular parts of the capital.”

Charlie Cayton, Ferrero's director of corporate affairs and communications, said: “We are looking forward to being an active member in the community.”
