FIDDLER Alastair Caplin is stepping in as a late replacement at Uxbridge Folk Club this Thursday.

He replaces Jacquelyn Hynes and J Eoin, who are ill.

Caplin is well known in East London, where he runs a traditional Scottish and Irish session at Jamboree Venue in Limehouse, accompanied by London's best Scottish ex-pat musicians.

He is also a regular in the John Langan Band and has performed, recorded and toured with Alasdair Roberts and Brooke Sharkey.

He has a classical background and is also a composer of film and theatre music.

Caplin will be performing with singer, guitarist, band leader and harmonica player Jez Hellard.

Uxbridge Folk Club www.tinyurl.com/uxfolk meets twice a month on a Thursday at Uxbridge Royal Naval Association, 388a Long Lane, Hillingdon UB10 9PG (two minutes from Hillingdon Tube station) and supports all kinds of acoustic music.

Music starts at 8pm with a support act, followed by the headline artists at 8.45. After some floor spots, the main artists come back and everything finishes at 11.

Entry is £8 (£3 students; under-18s free).
