SOUTHALL Broadway has reopened to two-way traffic for the first time in six months.
The main phase of work to improve its safety and appearance was completed ahead of schedule.
The work is part of an £11m project to regenerate Southall supported by Ealing Council, the Mayor of London and Transport for London.
As part of the improvements, the road was resurfaced, pavements were widened, street lights were improved and four new crossing islands installed, as well as new benches and bins.
The speed limit has also changed from 30mph to 20mph to help improve safety and to assist more vulnerable road users. As part of the changes a new restricted parking zone is now in place along the Broadway.
Between South Road Junction and Stanley Road, parking is allowed only in clearly-marked bays.
Southall Market and Herbert Road car parks are open as usual and Southall Market car park is offering reduced charges until the end of December.
All bus routes have reverted to normal and stops are reopened. Some minor works will continue along Southall Broadway until the Spring, which may cause minor delays.
