AN extra £402,000 will be spent on resurfacing main roads in the borough, Ealing Council’s cabinet heard last night.

The borough made a successful bid to the Department for Transport for the funding, as well as an extra £251,000 for filling potholes.

Ealing has already announced an investment of £4,665,000 for the 2014/15 financial year in repairing roads and pavements across the borough, and £870,000 has been secured from Transport for London.

This brings Ealing Council’s total road and pavements repair budget to £6,188,000.

The main roads that will benefit from the extra money are:

Acton High Street (from Market Place to Winchester Street)

Greenford Road (from Daryngton Drive to Uneeda Drive)

Greenford Road (from 120 Uxbridge Road to Timber Yard).

The resurfacing on Acton High Street is already complete. The rest of the works will take place before April.

Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, said: “With winter approaching, the £251,000 for potholes is especially welcome.”
