SUPPORTERS of the huge community effort to find missing Hanwell schoolgirl Alice Gross, 14, were in Ruislip last night.
They were trying to catch the attention of the mass media reporting the selection of Boris Johnson as Conservative candidate for Uxbridge & South Ruislip in next year’s general election.
They distributed posters and spoke to reporters gathered outside Ruislip High School, where the selection meeting took place.
Campaigners against the HS2 rail link were also present – and they received some good news before the night was out.
The chairman of Uxbridge & South Ruislip Conservative Association, Cllr Wayne Bridges, said Mr Johnson had repeated he is against a third runway at Heathrow, as well as the HS2 line through the area.
London Mayor Mr Johnson defeated Hillingdon Council deputy leader David Simmonds, Windsor and Maidenhead deputy leader Simon Dudley and barrister Suella Fernandes in a ballot of around 140 constituency members.
