THE Mall in Ealing Broadway remains closed to east-bound traffic from the junction of Haven Green to the High Street after yesterday’s burst water main.

The west-bound lane, heading towards West Ealing, was re-opened to traffic over night.

Traffic diversions remain in place for east-bound traffic, heading towards Acton, for the time being.

People who need to travel through the area are advised to check TFL for further information about bus diversions.

Thousands of homes in the borough were affected, though water supplies returned to the majority late Sunday afternoon after Thames Water re-directed supplies to the area.

People still affected are advised to contact Thames Water on 0845 920 0800.

Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre remained closed all day, although a clear up operation, to pump excess water and clear debris from the area, was in operation from early in the morning.

The centre and other local traders are expected to re-open today (Monday). Affected business have been advised to contact Thames Water for further information.

Council staff have been helping with the clean-up and put out sandbags to stem the flow of water at one stage.

Road repairs continued through Sunday night and a dangerous lamppost was removed.

Bottled water was delivered to a care home, as well being provided in at two drop-off points on The Common and Mattock Lane.
