THE construction of new homes in Greenford, Northolt and Southall moved a step closer after Ealing Council confirmed which firms would build them.

Sandwood Design & Build are the contractors in Greenford and Northolt.

Berkeley Construct was last month awarded the tender in Southall.

More than £4m has been allocated across the three projects, with the Greater London Authority contributing more than £450,000 in grants.

The homes in Greenford are divided into three one-bedroom and three two-bedroom flats, and will be located on the site of former council bedsits in Allenby Road, which are being demolished.

In Northolt, all will be three-bedroom family houses in Wincanton Crescent on the northern edge of the borough.

The Southall homes include three three-bedroom houses and five four-bedroom houses on the site of the old Disraeli Nursery, which was closed and demolished several years ago.

Two of the houses will be sold to cover construction costs of the remaining six homes, which will be kept for council tenants.

It is expected that work will begin shortly and Southall projects and finished in the Spring next year.
