LEGAL action to stop unlicensed raves taking place in Acton was taken by Ealing Council after squatters occupied empty premises.

The borough went to court to prevent unauthorised use of two buildings after receiving complaints from residents about noise and disturbance from all-night raves in a disused industrial unit.

Residents endured sleepless nights at weekends from ravers’ loud, drunken behaviour, shouting in the street and music being played so loud that one resident’s home vibrated.

Rave events have also been taking place within an empty training centre without required permission.

The borough’s response team and police visited the venues and found extreme levels of loud music, thousands of people in attendance and suspected drug use.

Despite repeated warnings to people on site, the behaviour continued until court orders were served requiring both premises to be vacated.

Pat Hayes, executive director of regeneration and housing, said: “This type of rave event is an increasing concern for the council and police because of criminal activity and anti-social behaviour linked with it.”

Any residents concerned about noise disturbance should call the borough noise nuisance team on 020 8825 8111 from Monday to Friday and on 020 8825 5000 at weekends.
