YOU could be excused for thinking you were looking at pictures of a tropical paradise – yet something rather prominent gives away the secret of these Spring photographs, taken last weekend.

The Hanwell Viaduct, one of the most familiar images in the borough, tells us we are very much in the heart of Ealing borough.

The pictures are by Matthew Allsop, an amateur photographer just moved to Hanwell, who approached the Ealing Times about displaying some of his work.

We agreed – and the results, we hope, are spectacular. He could not have chosen a better weekend, the warmest so far this year, which fills us with expectation for long summer days to come.

Look out for more of Matthew’s work on this site in the coming weeks.
