EALING Broadway Shopping Centre raised £9,424.82 for the British Heart Foundation in the Great British Bag-athon.
The centre collected 497 bags from shoppers, who had been asked to fill them with clothes, CDs, DVDs and books.
Centre manager Stuart Hill said: “We are so proud of the effort that shoppers and staff put in to help the British Heart Foundation.”
Across the country, 7,154 bags were collected, representing an increase of 1,658 on 2013.
Additional cash collections from centres taking totalled £9,132.95. This amount was almost double last year.
Karen O’Donoghue, of the BHF, said: “It’s great that shoppers and staff at Ealing Broadway really got stuck in and helped to make the initiative so successful.”
