PEOPLE in Ealing will benefit from more than £70,000 of funding awarded to borough charities from the People’s Health Trust.
The money was raised through The Health Lottery.
John Hume, chief executive of People’s Health Trust, said: “We are delighted to be investing in these local organisations with great ideas to make their communities even better places to grow, live, work and age.”
Four Ealing charities, offering a range of initiatives from crafting skills to computer literac,y were awarded grants.
Southall Fashion and Development Centre received £22,448 to continue its sewing and craft club, offering weekly activities for women to practise skills and to socialise.
Helplink, which empowers vulnerable women from the Tamil community, received £13,301 to continue providing English lessons, basic computer skills and healthy living advice.
Disadvantaged women from the South Acton estate will gain from £22,476 awarded to South Acton Skills & Arts Collaborative, to continue weekly English, ICT and sewing lessons.
Southall Green community hub will also continue to grow as Southall Community Alliance collected £16,370 to continue support work and social integration.
The next Health Lottery draws take place on Wednesday, February 19 and Saturday, February 22.
Grants are for community groups and not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £350,000 a year.
