Foreign secretary Robin Cook urged more people from ethnic minorities to join the Foreign Office when he visited Ealing on Wednesday last week.
The Foreign Office needs to represent 'the true face of Britain today,' Mr Cook told council leaders, who flocked to Ealing Town Hall from all over the country. He praised the diversity of Ealing's population and said he aimed to increase the percentage of his ethnic minority staff from 4.6 per cent to 10 per cent. He was welcomed by Ealing Southall MP Piara Khabra, council leader John Cudmore and Councillor Shital Munroe.
