Police search for boy's uncle
 |
| Gurrinder Singh |
POLICE are still appealing for help locating the family of a nine-year-old boy found abandoned in Southall, and are urging his uncle to come forward.
Gurrinder Singh, who only speaks Punjabi, was found by police at a clinic in Hartington Road, at around 4.30pm, on Wednesday.
He told officers, through an interpreter, his uncle had left him at a bus stop in the area and had not come back.
He said they lived together in a three-bedroom house and he has been in Britain for two to three years.
His uncle is described as white, in his 30's, of slim build and around 5ft 8inches tall.
Chief Inspector Keith Lunson, of Ealing Police, said: "We are keen to reunite Gurrinder with his family.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen him on a bus with his uncle, and we would specifically encourage his uncle to come forward."
Anyone with information can contact Ealing Missing Persons Unit on 020 8236 1040, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This all seems very strange:
1. The boy can only speak punjabi but his uncle is white. How did they communicate - could the uncle speak punjabi?
2. Surely if he had been in England for a few years he must have been to school. If so, which school and why can't he speak English.
3. Was anything captured on CCTV - especially on the bus.
4. Have the police traced his route back on the bus.It seems the most obvious way to find out where he lives.
It all seems a little strange that they need to put his photo on the news in the hope that someone might recognise him. Have they got an artists impression of his uncle. It seems like a case of neglect on his part. Given that the child seems so unfamiliar with his surroundings.
5. My brother is suggesting that perhaps the Gurdwara in Southall might in some way be able to assist in this matter. If not in this country perhaps to find out where he is from in India by contacting the media in India.
It is a very sad case.
