New labour leader announced
THE new leader of the Labour group on Ealing Council has been announced, after the current councillor resigned.
Councillor Sonika Nirwal last week said she was stepping down to concentrate on raising her young family.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, also a candidate for the London Assembly, was named as the new leader yesterday.

There can't have been much competition for this job.It must be like appointing the captain of a sinking ship. He obviously doesn't rate his chances of being elected to the London Assembly if he is already looking for other jobs.

It must have been a close call between Cllr Dheer and Cllr Tej Ram Bagha. Who else would be in the right mind to apply? For those of us who have had personal experience of Cllr Dheer abilities will be familiar with his capability to talk, talk and talk. Sadly, that is all and has delivered very little for Southall. Once again, the blind lead the blind. Those individuals that have supported his appointment as a Councillor and Leader deserve all that they get!

This is great news for Labour. It is bad news for the Conservatives. Someone new and not part of the entrenched "dogma" group--a practising socialist; not an en-doctrined Marxist. Go for it...
