| 16-month-old Talha died from appalling injuries |
AN ACTON father and his partner have failed in a bid to overturn their convictions for allowing the agonising death of his young son.
Abid Ikram, 31, and his partner Sumaira Parveen, 24, denied responsiblity for the death of 16-month-old Talha in September 2006.
The boy suffered appalling injuries in the run-up to his death, from a complication arising out of a badly broken leg, but his injuries were never explained.
The pair maintained their innocence, but were convicted under new laws meaning prosecutors do not have to prove responsibility for the fatal act.
Both were jailed for nine years in August 2007.
Rejecting their appeals yesterday, the judge at the Court of Appeal said the guilty verdicts were "safe" and the sentences not "manifestly excessive" or "wrong".
Ikram, had also been convicted of perverting the course of justice, for which he will serve an extra year.

These two **** cowards should be hanged not given any chances? They tortured and then killed a defenceless little child and they simply do not deserve to live! I hope they rot and i hope they never live peaceful lives ever again! We need proper justice for the innocent not leniancy for the likes of these two scumbags.Life for a life, eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth! I pray that they get the same treatment behind bars from their block buddies!

They may pay some day or in some other life. But for now the Ealing taxpayer will pay. It costs on average £40,000 per year to emprison someone. That covers food, lodging, entertainment, medical care, etc etc etc. 9 years each means £720K that we are paying for. Actually probably costs will be higher that that as kiddie killers have to have extra security to stop "ordinary" prisoners getting to them.

Shoot the pair of them and have done with it. No doubt their case and appeal were funded by legal aid, meaning that the true cost of having these scumbags in the UK runs into millions.
Sew them both into a good hessian sack and use them as sandbags in Afghanistan. I'll pay for the bags, thread and one-way flights myself.
