HE'S behind you! And Matt Slack, who played Buttons, certainly was behind star Lesley Joseph, every step of the way throughout the Wycombe Swan who made a perfect comedy duo.
The Birds of a Feather star and the comedian were brilliant together in this year's panto, Cinderella, and had the audience rolling in the aisles when they were on stage together.
Joseph is an utmost professional and took on her role as the kind, yet slightly moody Fairy Godmother, with grace and great comic timing, while Slack knew exactly how to make the children and adults laugh with his silly humour.
The lighting made the theatre a very magical place on Tuesday evening and probably the highlight in special effects was the wonderful flying horse which took Cinders to the ball.
I don't think I need to explain the story of Cinderella as every one knows it- as the beautiful Cinders escapes the evil clutches of her ugly sisters to fall in love with Prince Charming.
The children in the audience were mesmerised by the beautiful Gemma James as Cinders, who can not only sing and act, but also manages to keep a straight face while Slack is clowning around.
The High Wycombe references went down extremely well as Slack joked about Micklefield, Desborough Road and even Wycombe Wanderers.
Ben Stock and Adam Stafford were brilliant as the nasty and formidable Ugly Sisters with no less than ten ridiculous costume changes. The tall Stock was particularly eye catching in the huge array of frocks combined with flamboyant acting.
Mark Adamson was the ever dashing Prince Charming and Kevin Brewis was very funny as Dandini.
The ensemble opened the show with a beautiful dance routine and were incredible throughout showing off their flexibility.
And of course special mention goes to the children from The Jackie Palmer Stage School who were very sweet as the woodland animals.
There is no doubt about it, Qdos Entertainment, know how to put on a great pantomime; from the wonderful actors to the upbeat songs, the well designed sets and the slick scene changes- everything is just how a panto should be.
