WYCOMBE band Young Guns entertained the masses at Reading Festival over the weekend, as they took to the main stage for the first time.
The group, which includes drummer Ben Jolliffe from Marlow, and John and Taylor Fraser from Great Missenden, was formed seven years ago.
They joined a plethora of rock bands including Guns N’ Roses, Biffy Clyro and Blink 182 for the three-day extravaganza. Berkhamsted-based Hadouken! also joined the line-up at Little John’s Farm.
The eagerly-anticipated come-back from The Libertines really brought the crowd to its knees. Members Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, who hadn’t played together since 2004, belted out classics to an over-excited audience. Indeed, Pete had to tell them to calm down and ‘look out for eachother’.
Another delight was Queens of the Stone Age, who gave a rocking performance to the thousands of revellers. And of course the quirky set from System of a Down’s Serj Tankian.
In contrast, Axl Rose from GN’R emerged from his dressing room to ‘boos’ as the band turned up on stage almost an hour late.
However the fans almost forgot this faux pas as they played favourites including ‘It’s So Easy’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’.
But they were later forced off stage when the speakers were cut for going over their allotted time.
Despite a muddy start, the festival, which attracts around 87,000 people, was an incredible event and drew in some top bands. It remains to be seen what storming acts they have planned for 2011. Roll on next summer!
