WHAT a superb choice Lane End Players made when they decided to stage this excellent play.
The set alone was worthy of note, a delightful vicarage garden, with live flowers, and a real stream running down the grassy bank was a brilliant piece of set design and building.
Martin Hailey, a great director, together with a strong cast made this one of the best plays I have seen in a long time.
The plot revolves round a grieving widow whose husband, the local vicar, has died and the fact that she has to leave the vicarage- her long time home together with the handling of her grief made for a poignant chronicle of events.
Add to the mix a missionary sister, a new lady vicar and the widow’s daughter who all seem to have a dark secret they are keeping, this makes for some lively interaction.
The appearance of the dead vicar seen only by the wife who is able to converse with him added to the overall entertainment
