11:10am Friday 4th July 2008 in Theatre
By Melanie Dakin
A jazz associate of the late, great George Melly, Digby Fairweather’s professional career dates back thirty years.
Digby Fairweather’s Half Dozen began national touring alongside blues legend George Melly in January 2003 and appeared with him at Pendley to great acclaim.
Playing alongside Digby is Dave Moorwood and The Rascals of Rhythm, a swinging jazz band, whose repertoire spans many jazz eras.
The special guest on the night, which is organised by Tring Arts Trust, will be American jazz diva, Susan Valliant Speer, a versatile and dynamic performer with roots in the classic blues of Bessie Smith and Alberta Hunter and the great vaudeville tradition of Sophie Tucker.
The concert is at The Court Theatre @ Pendley, Tring on Saturday, July 12 at 8.15pm. Tickets: 01442 823130 (£10)
