Review: Holi One at Wembley Park

Wembley was awash with colour on Saturday, as Holi One took over Wembley Park.

Thousands of people, dressed head to toe in white, descended on the venue to throw colours as part of the celebrations, which were inspired by the Hindu spring festival Holi.

By the time me and my three friends had arrived at the venue, festivities were in full swing, with every visitor covered head to toe in brightly coloured powder paint.

The atmosphere was electric, with everyone really getting into the swing of the event, throwing packets of colours at each other, while music was played by electronic dance musician Jonas Hain, DJ Ben Wood, five-piece band Uhuru, Ministry of Sound DJ Tim Cullen, electronic trio Goodluck and DJ duo So Called Scumbags.

There was plenty to eat and drink too, with a range of stalls and bars selling goods.
This was my first Holi One experience and I couldn’t fault it.

From the great atmosphere created by the mixed crowd (people had travelled far and wide to attend), to the diverse music which catered for all – it really was a brilliant experience.

I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday, than covered in powder paint at Holi One. Here’s to next year!
