Museums and galleries across the UK have been busy coming up with a range of fantastic, creative ideas in the hope of ‘winning’ one of ten leading contemporary artists to put on a unique and unusual event for them for Museums at Night 2014, the UK’s annual late night festival of art, culture and heritage.

The artists have shortlisted their favourite ideas and now members of the public have until next week to decide which artist will go where – and you could bring Grayson Perry to the Freud Museum in Hampstead.

The museum is up against Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House, Museum of Soho in the West End and York Museums Trust in York.

If the Freud Museum wins, there will be plenty of opportunities for the public to meet the Turner Prize-winning artist.

In Grand Tour, Grayson will give a personal tour of Freud’s study, highlighting and discussing his favourite pieces from Freud’s collection; in Freud’s Lift, the two-person lift installed for Freud by his son Ernst will be specially opened for ten winners of a competition to meet Grayson – they will bring a personal object for the artist to free associate with and, in turn, he will ‘show and tell’ about pieces he has chosen from the museum collections; and in Sew Pots, visitors will use tablets and clay to create digital and actual works to be posted online; while in Lecture Room, Grayson will be ‘on the couch’ in conversation to tackle any subjects he chooses.

  • If you would like to bring Grayson Perry to the Freud Museum from May 15 to 17, you have until 5pm on Tuesday, January 28 to vote. Details: museumsatnight.org.uk
