BEACONSFIELD'S latest attraction opened with a VIP evening of glitz, glamour and gastronomics last Friday night. The Revolution vodka bar in Maxwell Road attracted hundreds of well heeled local business people and trendy fashionistas to its sleek, modern interior. Glammed up party-goers were welcomed into the high-ceilinged club. Guests enjoyed themselves on the vast menu ranging from lightly dressed salads to sumptuous steaks, all washed down with a tempting array of vodka cocktails, shooters and champagnes.

Chandeliers, candelabras and an open fire provided soft lighting throughout the main bar and restaurant area. Guests got comfy on sofas, sat tall on bar stools, or sipped their beverages at grand tables and wooden dining chairs.

A magician was on hand to keep guests entertained, while waitresses dressed up as Russian snow bunnies weaved amongst the crowd, serving silver trays of shots and delicacies.

Staff behind the bar, which stretched the length of the room, shook up a huge array of cocktails, ranging from the well known Bloody Mary to the Raspberry Mojito - a classic tipple with a fruity twist.

A glass wall separates the main bar from the dance area, with a live DJ and a second smaller bar, lit up by six disco balls and mirrored podiums.

Commenting on the new hot spot for the town, Chris Mills, 40, of West Way, said: "It echoes Beaconsfield, because there's a lot of money here and it looks very modern and up market. Somewhere for your more professional people to go. I think it will have a positive effect, it attracts people to the area."

His friend, Will Hylton, 25, of Queen Alexandra Road, added: "Beaconsfield has been dead for months, there's been nowhere to go, it's just been empty.

"I'm from Wycombe but I'll be coming this way."

21-year-old Lauren Flanagan came all the way from Thame for the opening. She said: "I like the space of it. The actual lay out's really nice. The lights are very pretty and there's an outside as well."

Mark Codd, 31, of Seelings Road, added: "It's a massive improvement from the bar that used to be here. It's brought a very cosmopolitan feel to Beaconsfield. I think it will bring more business into the pubs in Beaconsfield old town, because people will go there for drinks beforehand."

After months of construction and a huge investment, Revolution has transformed the former Bar Med that used to stand in its place.

It is now one of 50 bars like it across the country, specialising in vodka-based drinks and a classy atmosphere.

But founder of the Revolution brand, Neil Mccloud, said that he aimed for each of his bars to be individual.

He said: "We always do them a little bit different. We did some visits to California, some of the influence is from the Napa Valley, the high ceilings, the windows. We're trying to make it appeal to a broad section of people."

Commenting on the opening party he added: "It's a nice evening, lots of people are coming in from Beaconsfield and we're getting a good vibe at the bar. A lot of people are saying it's like nothing else in the area - that's what we're trying to do. It's been very positive, a lot of people miss this bar being open."
