Lovers of Italian cuisine will be delighted by the return of Belvedere Ristorante, says Nicola Orchard

AFTER a complete refurbishment, the popular and long-standing Belvedere Ristorante in Ealing is open for a delicious taste of Italy.

The family restaurant is one of the longest standing in Ealing, having been there since 1973, and manager Michele Dalaimo and his partner Enzo Mastronardi are proud of the atmosphere and food.

"It is a very happy restaurant," he says. "Everything is of high quality standards, and all of our food is fresh."

So fresh in fact, that the vegetables come from the restaurant's own garden on the premises, and fish and meat are delivered daily.

The tempting menu includes starters such as Antipasto Michelenzo, an Italian mix of prosciutto, salame, mozzarella, artichokes, roasted peppers and olives; Suppli alla Romana, deep fried mini rice croquettes with mozzarella, and Gamberoni all'aglio e burro, a delicious mix of large Mediterranean prawns, stir fried in white wine, chillies and garlic butter.

When choosing the main course, diners can opt for home made pasta dishes such as spaghetti with a choice of meat and sauce, Tagliatelle alla Don Carmine, which is ribbons of pasta with peas and pancetta in a light creamy sauce, layered with parma ham, or Tortelloni Belvedere, large tortelloni filled with spinach and ricotta cheese, and covered with tomato and basil sauce.

Fish dishes include Dover sole, cod, and the chef's signature Triglie alla Primavera - grilled fillets of red mullet on a bed of broad bean and pea risotto, garnished with roasted garlic.

Meat lovers can choose from a wide range of dishes, such as Scotch steak, veal, chicken or lamb, all cooked to perfection. There is also a range of salads and soups.

If you have something to celebrate, the restaurant has experts in sabrage - the famed Napoleonic art of cork removal from a Champagne method using a military sabre - which will add to the occasion.

Lunch and dinner are served daily. The restaurant is also holding a tribute to Tom Jones on the evening of Saturday, March 29. Call Michele to book your table now.
