A MUSICIAN who was one of seven boys who founded the Risborough Rangers junior football club in 1971 is organising a fundraiser for the club.
Martin Kent, from Longwick Road, Princes Risborough who used to work in the city said he would like to give something back to the club.
On March 13 the Ska band Hope and Glory, which he is part of, will play at Princes Risborough Community Centre to raise money for the renovation of the children's changing rooms.
He said: “I was a manager for one of the year groups for about 8 years as my son played football for them.
“Also it goes back further than that- I was one of seven children to found the club in 1971.
“My son doesn't play any more because is is too old and I am not doing anything for the club so I wanted to do something.”
The club is currently raising funds to renovate the changing rooms which is where Martin stepped in.
He said: “I worked for a long time in the city and I got made redundant in October 2008. I play the piano and synthesiser and I teach piano too.
“I decided to become a professional musician. I have been part of Hope and Glory for a year but it has been going for five or six years.
“It is all good fun. When I first joined the band I thought it would be people my age who appreciated it but there are a lot of teenagers.
“I think is is something for everyone.”
They play Madness tunes, The Specials and Bad Manners.
Doors open at 7.30pm and there is a licensed bar. Hope and Glory is performing at 9pm until 12am.
Tickets cost £5 from 07771561667 or email mart_a_kent@yahoo.com.
