A LOUDWATER resident has released his first children's book which he describes as a "very simplistic thing."
Michael White came up with the idea Animal Antics Sounds and is the first of a series of three to be published by Melrose Books.
The 69-year-old grandad said: "The practical idea for Animal Antics came from a chance remark. I am a great fan of Spike Milligan- I remember hearing on the radio someone saying- 'It is very strange but true,' in a Spike Milligan type voice- 'That all dogs bark and all cows moo.'
"A couple of months later I decided to expand on this."
The book teaches language and literacy through the sounds of animals.
Mr White has two grandchildren called Gabriel, 4 and Elliot Hall, 2, who live in Hazlemere.
He added: "The idea is for parents to read out all the sounds.
"I have got a beautiful illustrator- Valerie Burton- who has done some wonderful drawings which looked great."
He said his wife Susan White, who he has been married to for 46 years this year, has been a great help and her input has been considerable over the years.
Mr White, who worked in logistics for 40 years, added: "She reads to the kids and came up with the layout for the book."
Animal Antics Sounds costs £5.99 and is available online at Melrose Books and Tesco and from Waterstones in High Wycombe.
