A High Wycombe author has launched a new guide to healthy living after seeing family members suffer from ill health.

Arnold Page, who lives in Totteridge, wrote Twenty-First Century Nutrition and Family Health after tirelessly studying over 500 research papers to get a better understanding of why obesity is a problem across the country.

The keen author, who is also a member of the Nutrition Society and a professional member of the Institution of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the Institute of Wood Science, launched his book in the Brookes Lounge on Amersham Road, Hazlemere, on Saturday.

Mr Page was prompted to act after watching various family members struggle with health issues.

“My brother-in-law died of a heart attack aged 40 and my wife suffered with Type 2 diabetes for 13 years.  Two of my children suffer with weight problems.

“I wanted to get to the bottom of the problem so I have been studying scientific papers for four years and I believe I have come up with the solution.

“The problem for many families is cost. Takeaway food is much cheaper than preparing a healthy meal, but I think this book will show people how they can eat better and lose weight for less.

“This book explains everything that families can do to avoid obesity and diabetes.”

The result of years of detailed research is a comprehensive guide to healthy living, including a special diet plan for the whole family, tips on how to get a good night’s sleep, keeping children’s teeth free from decay, preventing type 2 diabetes and how to enjoy exercise.

Mr Page believes his wife Ann’s diabetes has been cured after going on the diet featured in his book and following his own advice, was able to climb sixteen 3000ft mountain peaks in 24 hours and complete two half marathons by the time he was 71.

“I hope my book will help people understand what is good for them and what is bad for them and their families.”

As the book contains scientific references to prove the science behind his statements, Arnold now hopes to rewrite the Twenty-First Century Nutrition and Family Health to make it more family friendly.

Twenty-First Century Nutrition and Family Health is published by New Generation Publishing and available in paperback and ebook from all major online book retailers.
