NO, global warming hasn't given us a beach in Uxbridge. But Tiger Cubs, in New Denham, is doing its best to reproduce the other sights, sounds and tastes of a Bollywood beach party indoors.

There are two beaches that make up this party, Chowpatty Beach in Bombay, home to the world's largest film industry, and the golden sands of Goa further down the west coast of India.

Bollywood's studios produce about 900 films a year for a local audience of over one billion people and, each evening, it seems that at least one million of them are strolling along Chowpatty Beach on Bombay's seafront. Here, the latest film songs are played by the hundreds of snack vendors selling puris and samosas to Bollywood fans, and the occasional star, trying to go incognito, all wearing their best sunglasses.

Goa is the antidote to frantic Bombay, a place where there's always time for a swim, or a stroll in your newest Hawaiian shirt, which says something about the Goans' relaxed attitude to life. But they're serious about good food and drink as you'll discover when you try the Bollywood Beach Party menu at Tiger Cubs.

Try the balchao with its hot pickled prawns, the Goan fish curry, or a proper vindaloo, which doesn't mean blow-your-head-off hot but comes from the Portuguese for 'wine or vinegar' (vin) and garlic (aloo).

The dishes were produced by a visiting chef from one of the best five-star hotel groups in India. Wines were matched to each dish by a professional taster. There are some pretty nifty cocktails and other drinks, like a whole fresh coconut.

Free henna tatoos will be on offer at weekends. And it really looks the biz indoors. So much so, you might even hear the sound of ocean waves.

The Bollywood Beach Party runs until 31 August.
