Artists interpret architecture

A NEW exhibition will open at a famous Ealing cultural venue next week showing different interpretations of architecture.

The exhibition, called Set in Stone, shows paintings and photographs of British buildings by five different artists.

It is intended to show architecture in the UK through the eyes of artists Emily Allchurch, Stephen Carter, Michael Durning, Stefan Hoenerloh, and Ben Johnson.

The exhibition, at Pitzhanger Manor Gallery, in Walpole Park, Mattock Lane, Ealing, opens on Friday, March 28.

The exhibition sounds interesting: the venue is not. I had occassion to show a European architecture student around Pitzhanger Manor and he was surprised by why anyonw would be interested in it. Of the many things that the Pitzhanger Manor (formerly Pitshanger Manor before the marketeers got at it)is it is definitely NOT a famous cultural venue. It is basically rather a boring old building that no one can really find a good use for and costs the Council a lot of money for its upkeep... Perhaps the Council could sell it to find the Southall Community Centre?
Maggie.
