New leader ready for challenge
THE new leader of the labour group in Ealing has said he is ready to take on a "new challenge".
Councillor Ranjit Dheer said it is unfortunate his predecessor, Councillor Sonika Nirwal has stepped down, but said he understands she has got responsibilities at home.
Cllr Dheer, said: "Cllr Nirwal was an excellent leader and she made a great contribution to the group.
"It is normal for me to take up the post, having been deputy leader for many years, but I am ready to take up a new challenge.
"I know I am stepping in after a line of competent and successful leaders."
Cllr Dheer is also a candidate for the London Assembly elections in May.
